Melissa Porto

Melissa Porto has a diverse work experience, starting with their role at Blue Shamrock Restaurant and Pub as a Lead Bartender and eventually becoming a Manager. Melissa then worked at the Harvard Peabody Museum Archlgy as a Lecturer and Gallery Assistant, where they were responsible for cataloging specimens and coordinating volunteers. Melissa also worked at the Mesa Museum of Natural History as a Preservation, Conservation, and Restoration Specialist, focusing on the restoration and preservation of an ancient ruin site. Melissa then worked as a GIS Consultant at Salem State University, providing economic impact reports and modeling flood scenarios for various towns. Melissa also has a role as the Owner, CEO, Appraiser, Researcher, and Market Value Assessor at Melaport, Inc., where they specialize in the research, appraisal, and trading of historic material culture. Their most recent role is as a Senior Project Manager and GIS/CAD Utility Data Mapping/Drafting at Osmose Utilities Services, Inc., where they manage a GIS database and designs utility poles based on engineering specifications.

Melissa Porto completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public/Applied History from Salem State University, which they attended from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geographic Information Science from the same university, studying from 2010 to 2013. Before their time at Salem State University, Melissa attended Middlesex Community College from 2004 to 2006, where they received an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Their education began at Montserrat College of Art from 2000 to 2002, where they obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Fine Art/Art History.
