Christy Smejkal

Christy Smejkal has an extensive work experience in the field of DNA analysis. Christy began their career in 2001 as a DNA Analyst at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory. In 2002, they moved to the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Forensic Scientist. In 2008, they joined Harris County as a DNA Analyst. In 2018, they became the Analysis Lead at Gene by Gene. Christy is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Othram Inc.

Christy Smejkal obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Molecular Biology from Auburn University between 1990 and 1995. Christy then went on to earn a Master's degree in Research in Mitochondral Genetics from The University of Texas Medical Branch between 1995 and 2000. Christy also holds a certification from the American Board of Criminalistics, known as F-ABC.
