Aaron Thornell

Aaron Thornell is an experienced professional in outreach and communications with a strong focus on sustainability and community development. Currently serving as the Outreach & Communications Coordinator for the City of Ottawa since December 2021, Aaron supports low-carbon transition programs, particularly the Better Homes Ottawa Loan Program. Previously, as General Manager and Communications Manager for Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-operative Inc. from October 2017 to December 2021, Aaron developed energy efficiency and renewable energy projects while engaging member-investors. Aaron's experience also includes a role as Customer & Member Manager at CoEnergy, and participation in community development as a Research Fellow with the OceanPath Fellowship. Earlier roles included Sports & Health Editor at The Xaverian Newspaper during university. Aaron holds a BA Joint Advanced Major in History and Development Studies from St. Francis Xavier University, completed in 2015.
