Boon Pang Lim

Boon Pang Lim has over 17 years of work experience in the field of speech and language technology. Boon Pang is currently working as a Staff Speech Scientist at Otter.ai since November 2020. Prior to that, they worked at NovuMind Inc. as a Tech lead for speech and language SDK development from May 2017 to October 2020. Before that, they held multiple roles at the Institute for Infocomm Research, starting as a Research Engineer from 2003 to 2004. Boon Pang then progressed to the positions of Scientist I and Scientist II, where they focused on automatic speech recognition and played a key role in building a cloud-based multilingual speech recognition platform. In addition to their research work, Boon Pang Lim also supervised student projects and showed an interest in community outreach and promoting the maker movement in Singapore.

Boon Pang Lim obtained their Bachelor's degree from Raffles Institution starting from 1991 and ending in 1994. Boon Pang then pursued further education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from 1997 to 2001. Continuing their academic journey, they obtained their Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the same university from 2005 to 2010.
