Tao Xing

Tao Xing has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. They began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Utah, where they gained five years of experience in transportation project development, with a focus on routing, traffic prediction, and map-matching. During this time, they collaborated with software engineers to develop a real-time traffic prediction system.

In 2012, Tao joined Research In Motion as a Traffic Analyst intern. They then moved on to work at BlackBerry as a Software Developer, where they analyzed mobile context data, developed complex queries and data models, and worked on data analysis workflows using Hadoop, Hive, Oozie, and Sqoop.

In 2014, Tao joined Alohar Mobile Inc. (An Alibaba Company) as a Senior Software Engineer, and later as a Staff Software Engineer. They then worked at EAT Club as a Senior Software Engineer - Full-stack, before joining Otter.ai in 2017 as a Senior Software Engineer.

Throughout their career, Tao has gained expertise in multiple programming languages and software tools, including C#, Matlab, GAMS, TransCAD, ArcGIS, and DTA packages. Their focus has been on software development, data analysis, and traffic prediction in various industries.

Tao Xing received a Ph.D in Transportation Engineering from the University of Utah, from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained an MSc in Radio Frequency Communication Systems from the University of Southampton, from 2005 to 2006. Tao Xing also holds a BEng in Communication Engineering from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, which was obtained from 2001 to 2005. They attended Taiyuan No.5 Middle School, although the specific years of attendance and the field of study are not provided. In addition to their formal education, Tao Xing has also obtained additional certifications, including Machine Learning from Coursera in December 2014 and Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop (CCDH) from Cloudera in May 2013.
