Michael Turro

Michael Turro has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Their most recent position is as the VP of Engineering at Oula, a position they have held since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Sema4 as the Director of Engineering from November 2020 to April 2022.

From 2010 to 2020, Michael was employed at M. Shanken Communications, where they held multiple roles including Director of Engineering, Director of Technology, and Director of Premedia. In these positions, they were responsible for various aspects of software engineering, development best practices, infrastructure and site reliability, as well as print advertising and editorial operations.

Before joining M. Shanken Communications, Michael worked at bluepear.org as the Director of Operations from 1995 to 2007. Michael provided pro-bono technology services to artists and managed an early indeymedia.

Early in their career, Michael worked at Penton as a Digital Quality Analyst from 1998 to 2002, where they played a role in transitioning the company from a film-based workflow to a computer-to-plate workflow.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated expertise in engineering, technology operations, software development, and publishing workflows.

Michael Turro holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English from William Paterson University of New Jersey. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications, including GraphQL Essential Training and JavaScript: Async from LinkedIn in February 2020 and January 2020 respectively. Michael also holds two certifications in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) from ProTrainings, obtained in April 2023 and April 2022.
