Marko Balabanovic

Chief Technology Officer at Our Future Health

Marko Balabanovic has extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Marko currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Our Future Health UK since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Technology at the same company from October 2020 to October 2021.

Before joining Our Future Health UK, Balabanovic worked as a Non-Executive Director at NHS Digital from January 2017 to December 2021. Marko also held the position of Head of Innovation and AI at Huma from December 2019 to October 2020.

Balabanovic's previous roles include serving as the CTO and later as the Innovation Director at Digital Catapult from November 2015 to November 2019. Marko was the VP Software at State from March 2011 to April 2014.

Earlier in their career, Balabanovic worked at lastminute.com as the Head of Innovation from June 2006 to March 2011. During this time, they led the lastminute.com labs innovation team and was responsible for testing and launching new services, interfaces, and apps. Marko also established "the Nest," a series of events and competitions aimed at fostering innovation.

Balabanovic's work experience also includes serving as the Director of Personalisation at lastminute.com from April 2004 to December 2007, as well as the Director of Engineering at Cellectivity Ltd from January 2002 to April 2004.

Marko started their career as a Lead Product Designer at flutter.com/betfair.com from December 1999 to January 2002. Prior to that, Balabanovic worked as a Research Scientist at Ricoh Silicon Valley from June 1998 to December 1999. Marko'searliest known role was an internship at Xerox EuroPARC in 1993.

Marko Balabanovic attended the University of Cambridge from 1987 to 1990, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. Afterward, they pursued further education at Stanford University from 1992 to 1998, earning a PhD in Computer Science.
