L. Franklin Gilliam

L. Franklin Gilliam is the Chair at Out in Tech. L. was previously the Vice President, Education & Product Development at Girls Who Code from January 2016 to June 2018. Prior to that, they were the Director, Hive NYC Learning Network at Mozilla from April 2012 to December 2015. L. also served as the Program Manager for Informal Learning at Institute of Play from May 2008 to April 2012.

Gilliam has also been self-employed and a Strategy and Design Consultant at Social Movements + Innovation from November 2018 to April 2019. L. has also served as the Director of Projects at Quest to Learn, Institute of Play from August 2009 to December 2010. Additionally, they were a Visiting Faculty at Vermont College of Fine Art from January 2008 to June 2008.

L. Franklin Gilliam's educational career includes a Masters Professional Studies in Game and Interactive Media Design from New York University, an MFA in Film and Twentieth Century Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a BA in Modern Culture and Media from Brown University.
