Shu Lai

Shu Lai is an accomplished design leader with extensive experience across various prominent companies, currently serving as the Head of Design at Outschool since March 2025. As a member of the Design Leadership Forum by InVision since May 2018, Shu contributes to advancing design leadership practices. Previous roles include VP of Design at Wonderschool, Head of Design at HOVER Inc., and Head of Product Design at Coursera, where Shu led innovative design teams focused on enhancing user experiences and product development. Founding ShuDesign in 2001, Shu has cultivated a breadth of expertise in product design, UX, and creative direction, with additional experience at Life360, Homejoy, Snapfish, and R/GA. Shu holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from California College of the Arts.
