Bibhu Mohanty

Dr. Bibhu Mohanty, VP, Engineering at the Wireless Research Division of Qualcomm, received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1993. Since then he has been at the Wireless Research Division of Qualcomm Inc. in San Diego developing future wireless technologies. His early work contributed to the worldwide mobile revolution connecting billions of people, particularly in the emerging countries. Currently he heads a project of sixty engineers engaged in the research and development of the next generation of wireless technologies and applications, such as Wi-Fi, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. These are expected to play critical roles in society, from personal and enterprise communications to education, health care and many others. He holds more than 75 US Granted Patents and has several publications in the above areas. Apart from his professional interests, Bibhu pursues photographic art/medium, travel, cooking and is interested in social issues.
