Joshua van der Ploeg

Joshua Van der Ploeg currently serves as the Deputy Associate General Counsel at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, a position held since July 2024. Prior to this role, Joshua gained extensive experience at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from February 2017 to July 2024, where responsibilities included Associate Director and Lead Counsel in Capital Markets, as well as Chair of the EBRD Staff Council. Joshua's legal career includes positions at White & Case, where work as an Associate spanned from April 2012 to February 2017, and a role as a Legal Consultant at the African Development Bank in 2014. Additionally, Joshua held Associate and Summer Associate positions at Latham & Watkins and completed a Judicial Externship at the U.S. District Court - District of Idaho. Academically, Joshua earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Spanish from Northwest Nazarene University, with a focus on Latin American Studies.
