Jan Erik Solem

Jan Erik Solem currently serves as Chairman at Overture Maps Foundation and holds the position of Engineering Director for Maps at Meta since June 2020. Prior to these roles, Jan Erik Solem co-founded and was CEO of Mapillary, a platform that enhances mapping through street-level imagery, until its acquisition by Facebook. Jan Erik Solem also held an Associate Professor role at Lunds Universitet, focusing on applied mathematics and computer vision. Earlier experience includes positions as a Computer Vision Researcher and Engineering Manager at Apple, as well as Founder and CTO of Polar Rose, which specialized in innovative image search technologies utilizing face recognition. Jan Erik Solem earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics and has a strong educational background in engineering.
