Dione Somerville is currently the President at Owens Community College. Prior to their current position, they served as the Executive Vice President at Hawkeye Community College from January 2020 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for strategic enrollment initiatives and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Somerville also served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Bloomsburg University from July 2011 to January 2020. In this role, they provided leadership for a comprehensive Student Affairs division including the departments of Athletics, Center for Leadership and Engagement, Child Care Center, Counseling Service, Dean of Students Office, Dining, Greek Affairs, Health Center, International Student Services, Intramurals and Sports Clubs, LGBTQA Resource Center, Military Student Services, Multicultural Center, Orientation, Outdoor Recreation, Residence Life, Student Recreation Center, Student Response Team, Student Activities, Student Recreation Center, Student Union, Tutoring, University Bookstore, the Women’s Resource Center, and the Writing Center.
Dione D. Somerville has an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University, and a B.A. in English/Writing from Ohio Northern University. Dione also participated in the AASCU Millennium Leadership Institute in July 2014 and the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard Graduate School of Education in July 2015.
