Vassili Soumelis

Chief Medical Officer at Owkin

Vassili Soumelis is the Chief Medical Officer at Owkin. Prior to this, they were a senior physician in immunology and hematology at Institut Curie, where they developed new strategies for immunotherapy of cancer, anti-tumor vaccines, immune monotoring, and clinical heamtology. Vassili also worked as an MD and assistant professor in hematology and bone marrow transplantation at Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades. Soumelis is currently on leave from their position as professor of immunology at Université Paris Cité. Vassili has also worked as a post-doctoral fellow in immunobiology, dendritic cell and cytokine biology at the DNAX Research Institute. Vassili received their PhD from Schering Plough in 1996.

After completing their MD at Necker medical school, Vassili Soumelis pursued a medical residency and fellowship in the field of hematology at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
