Virgilio Kmetzsch

Virgilio Kmetzsch is a Senior Research Scientist in AI/ML at Owkin since September 2022, where responsibilities include leading AI/ML-driven projects to enhance biomedical research and mentoring a team of scientists. Prior roles include a Research Scientist in AI/ML at Owkin, focusing on benchmarking deep learning representations for RNA-seq data, and a PhD fellow in Machine Learning at Inria and the Institut du Cerveau – Paris Brain Institute, where the thesis centered on multimodal analyses in genetic fronto-temporal dementia. Previous experience includes R&D Project Manager, Software Engineering Manager, and Team Lead at Datacom, contributing significantly to telecom equipment development and embedded software for data transmission systems. Virgilio holds a PhD in Computer Science from Sorbonne Université and a Master's in Data Science from the National School of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of Grenoble, in addition to an Engineer's degree in Electrical Engineering.
