Jian Yang

Consulting Image and Optical Scientist at Owl Autonomous Imaging

Jian Yang has worked in various roles since 1989. Jian began their career as a Research Assistant at the Schepens Eye Research Institute in 1989. Jian then moved on to a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Rochester in 1991. In 1995, they became a Research Associate at the University of Houston, where they designed and conducted psychophysical experiments on stereopsis, eye movement, motion perception and light adaptation. In 1998, they became a Principal Image Scientist at Eastman Kodak Company. In 2007, they worked as a .Net Web Developer at Storm Frog, Inc. In 2008, they began working at The Gleason Works as a Sr. Software Engineer, where they quoted, designed, and implemented software features on the company’s commercial gear testing machines based on customer orders and internal needs, using C++/C#. Jian provided support to customers and field engineers in trouble shooting machine functions via phone, email, and online web tools. Finally, in 2022, they became a Consulting Image and Optical Scientist at Owl Autonomous Imaging.

Jian Yang obtained a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Northeastern University in 1991. Prior to that, they obtained an MS in Optics from the Shanghai Institute of Optics & Fine Mechanics in 1984, and a BS in Physics from Fudan University in 1982. In addition, they obtained an Applied Data Science Program certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in May 2022, and achieved 9th position in the Hack Linguist Hackathon from Great Learning in May 2022.
