Doug Wright

Doug Wright is the Medical Director at Aviva UK Health. He originally joined, what was Norwich Union Healthcare in 1999 from full time practice as a GP with a background across hospital and community based medicine. Throughout his time at Aviva he has developed the clinical capability of the business which is now at a mature level and allows clinical insight to be deployed at all stages of the customer lifecycle.

Doug’s role at Aviva is primarily focused on ensuring Health customers are able to access healthcare that is clinically effective but also delivered efficiently. Alongside this he is a key member of the team that assesses new technologies whether that is for adoption in the current health portfolio, as an investment opportunity or as the basis for a new proposition. Doug also serves as a non-executive director on the board of Healthcode, a leading provider of IT services for the private healthcare sector focusing on industry solutions. Doug also has a board presence with HCML (a rehabilitation services provider) and Owlstone Medical (developing a breathalyser for disease detection).
