Tom Smith

Tom Smith is an experienced communications professional currently serving as an Internal Communications Adviser at Oxfam since July 2019. In this role, Tom has been instrumental in developing and evaluating strategic internal communication and staff engagement plans aligned with organizational objectives, while also providing strategic advice to senior leaders. Prior to this position, Tom worked as a Communications, Knowledge and Information Officer at Oxfam, where efforts focused on promoting the humanitarian team’s work through various communications channels and creating accessible intranet hubs. Tom’s earlier experience includes a significant tenure at Marks and Spencer as Communications Lead, where engagement scores improved by over 18%, alongside various communications and customer service roles at Aktiv Kapital. Tom holds a Master's degree in Critical and Creative Writing from the University of Chester, a Graduate Skills in Counselling Certificate from The University of Salford, and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Counselling at Liverpool John Moores University. Additionally, Tom has obtained the CIPR Advanced Certificate in Public Relations.
