Contract Mechanical Design Engineer at Oxford Space Systems

Mike Nind has extensive experience as a contract mechanical design engineer, working for various companies in the aerospace industry. Mike has worked at Oxford Space Systems since 2023 and previously worked at Astroscale, Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), Rockwell Collins, Chess Dynamics Ltd, aeroDAC, Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) again, and QinetiQ. In these roles, Mike has been responsible for designing satellite Ground Support Equipment, aircraft modifications, flight test instrumentation installations, and electro-optical equipment for oil and gas platforms. Mike has expertise in designing sheet metal, cast, and machined components as well as PCB integration and mechanical aspects of PCB design. Mike has experience throughout the entire design life cycle, from conceptual design to detailed design and supporting manufacture.

Mike Nind has a strong education background in engineering and aerospace. Mike graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2002 with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Aerospace Engineering. Before that, they studied at the University of Humberside from 1994 to 1996, earning a BTEC HNC in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering. From 1992 to 1994, they attended Hull College of Further Education, where they obtained a BTEC ONC in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering. Their high school education was completed at The Weald, where they studied A'Level Design & Technology, Physics, and Mathematics from 1985 to 1992.

In terms of additional certifications, Mike Nind obtained a certification in Space Systems & Mission Engineering from the University of Surrey in June 2007.
