Steve Hamer

Programme Manager at Oxford Space Systems

Steve Hamer has been working in the engineering and project management fields for over 30 years. Steve began their career in 1981 as an Electronics Engineer in the Royal Air Force, where they were responsible for the technical and administrative management of teams of skilled engineers and the sole and full site responsibility during silent hours of multi million pound defence installations within UK and overseas. Steve also maintained and fault rectified radar systems, HF communications facilities and all associated ancillaries. In 2003, Steve began working as a Project Manager at Trend Telecommunications.

In 2005, Steve moved to Trend Network Services, where they were a Project Delivery Manager. In this role, they managed Local Area Network cabling infrastructure and Secure communications installations to JSP480 standards, conducted QA audits, recruited and placed 140+ staff, and represented the company at meetings with prime contractors. Steve also prepared quotes and compiled tenders for new business.

In 2006, Steve joined ABSL Space Products as a Project Manager. In this role, they were responsible for Programme management for a team of project managers delivering batteries for a global customer base, resource and financial forecasting and reporting, chairing resource planning meetings, hosting and chairing formal customer meetings, project management for the development of a successful prototype kinetic energy recovery systems for a Formula1 team, liaising with several commercial companies to analyse mains power issues, overseeing installation of a new conditioned power system, and final sign off accountability for all project associated technical documents and drawings.

In 2010, Steve began working as a Program Manager at Honeywell. Finally, in 2019, they joined Oxford Space Systems as a Programme Manager.

Steve Hamer attended No1 Radio School RAF Locking, where they studied Electronics & radar principles.
