Philip Auerswald

Author, The Code Economy: A Forty-thousand-year History at Oxford University Press

Philip Auerswald is a Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University, with a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation in a global context. Auerswald has served as the Presidential Fellow at the university and has held various academic positions, including Associate Professor and Assistant Professor while directing the Center for Science and Technology Policy. Auerswald co-chairs the American Innovation Advisory Council for America250 and has authored significant works, such as "The Code Economy: A Forty-Thousand-Year History" and "The Coming Prosperity." Additionally, Auerswald is the Founding Board Chair of the National Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and co-founded the Innovations Journal. Past roles include co-founder of Zilla Global LLC and the Policy Design Lab, Chief Academic Officer at the Hult Prize Foundation, and Senior Fellow/Advisor at the Kauffman Foundation. Education includes a BA in Political Science from Yale University and a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington.
