Prof. Constantin Coussios OBE has an extensive work experience in the field of biomedical engineering. Prof. Constantin has held various roles at the University of Oxford, starting with their appointment as a Powderject Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering in 2004. Prof. Constantin then served as the Bellhouse Foundation Reader in Biomedical Engineering from October 2006 to December 2010, followed by their appointment as a Statutory Professor of Biomedical Engineering in January 2011. In this role, they founded and leads the Biomedical Ultrasonics, Biotherapy and Biopharmaceuticals Laboratory (BUBBL), a group focused on noninvasive therapies and drug delivery strategies. Additionally, Prof. Coussios has been the Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford since October 2016, overseeing multidisciplinary research and setting research strategy in biomedical engineering.
Apart from their positions at the University of Oxford, Prof. Coussios has also been involved in other organizations. Prof. Constantin is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of ORTHOSON Ltd since September 2016. In 2008, they co-founded OrganOx Ltd and served as its Technical Director, responsible for the development of the world's first normothermic liver perfusion device. Prof. Constantin also founded OxSonics Limited in January 2014 and served as its Director and Chief Technology Officer until June 2019.
Prof. Coussios has held research positions at Boston University and the University of Cincinnati, as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, respectively.
In addition to their academic and research roles, Prof. Coussios has served as a Non-Executive Independent Director at ConvaTec Group PLC since August 2020.
