Eike Nagel

Advisor at Precision Image Analysis

Dr. Eike Nagel is the Director of the Institute for Experimental and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging; Consultant Cardiologist, University Hospital Frankfurt, Germany.

A world-recognized opinion leader in cardiac imaging. For more than 25 years he has been using cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging to diagnose problems of the heart or the vessels noninvasively. Career steps include the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland; the German Heart Institute Berlin, Germany and the King’s College London, UK were Prof. Nagel led the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging. Since 2015 he heads a new Research Institute for Cardiovascular Imaging at the University Frankfurt where he also leads the Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Imaging Service of the hospital.

Prof. Nagel has developed stress tests for magnetic resonance imaging, which are now in use world-wide, holds several patents on imaging methods, and has authored more than 300 publications and 30 book chapters. He is Past-President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and serves on various research committees and editorial boards. His main interest is Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography, specifically for heart failure, ischaemia, viability, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies, left ventricular hypertrophy (athletes, pathologic LVH) and early detection of cardiac abnormalities.
