Marie Holowaychuk, DVM, DACVECC, CYT has a diverse work experience in veterinary medicine. Marie Holowaychuk, DVM, DACVECC, CYT has an extensive education history in the field of veterinary medicine. Marie obtained their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Before that, they pursued pre-veterinary medicine at the University of Alberta from 1998 to 2000.
Following their DVM, Marie completed an Internship Program in Small/Companion Animal Surgery and Medicine at Washington State University from 2004 to 2005. Marie then pursued a specialization in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at North Carolina State University, where they became a Diplomate in this field from 2005 to 2008.
In addition to their academic achievements, Marie has obtained numerous certifications to enhance their professional skills and well-being. Marie completed the Train the Trainer Program for Wellbeing from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) in October 2022. In October 2021, they obtained the Brave Spaces certification, also from AVMA. Marie obtained the Being a Mindful Employee: An Orientation to Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace certification from the Mental Health Commission of Canada in May 2021.
Marie's commitment to workplace well-being led their to achieve the Workplace Wellbeing certification from AVMA in July 2019. Additionally, they completed the QPR Training in June 2019, which focuses on suicide prevention. Marie obtained the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification from the Centre for Suicide Prevention in 2017.
Aside from their veterinary medicine focus, Marie has pursued certifications in mindfulness and well-being practices. Marie completed the Love to Teach Meditation Training (200-hr) from Lifestyle Meditation in 2016. In the same year, they also obtained the Yoga Nidra Teacher Training certification from Yoga Passage. Marie became a certified yoga teacher (200-hour) from Yoga Passage in August 2015. In 2015, they completed Compassion Fatigue Training from the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary Social Work and Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid Canada (MHFA).
