Eric Spence

Eric Spence is an experienced engineering professional currently serving as the Director of Mechanical Engineering at PacBio since September 2024. Prior to this role, Eric held positions at Nautilus Biotechnology as a Fellow and Vice President of Instrument Engineering, and at GenapSys as Senior Director of Instrument Development, where leadership encompassed the design and development of DNA sequencers and automated workflow instrumentation. Eric's previous experience includes managerial roles at Agilent Technologies, Illumina, and Affymetrix, focusing on automation, detection technology, and next-generation sequencing instruments. Eric holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, earned between 1989 and 1993.
