Xiao Chen

Principal Bioinformatics Scientist at PacBio

Xiao Chen has a strong background in bioinformatics and genomics. They currently hold the position of Principal Bioinformatics Scientist at PacBio, starting in February 2022. Prior to this, Xiao Chen worked at Illumina for several years, where they held various positions including Senior Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, and Bioinformatics Scientist I & II. At Illumina, they contributed to the development and validation of NGS assays for cancer screening and diagnosis, developed targeted CNV calling tools, and performed in-depth analysis of cancer sequencing data.

Before joining Illumina, Xiao Chen worked as a Research Assistant at Princeton University from November 2010 to September 2015. In this role, they focused on genome assembly and comparative analyses of ciliate species, gaining insights into ciliate genome evolution.

Xiao Chen completed a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2006 to 2010. Following that, from 2010 to 2015, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology at Princeton University.
