Karen Smith

Karen Smith has extensive experience in communications and marketing, currently serving as the National Security Communications Team Leader at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since June 2010. In various roles at the laboratory, including S&T Communications Partner and acting Internal and Mission Communications Group Lead, Karen has successfully developed messaging strategies, led communications teams, and enhanced staff engagement. Prior experience includes serving as Marketing Project Lead at Gesa Credit Union, where efforts focused on positioning the credit union as a leading financial institution in Eastern Washington, and as Consumer Marketing Director at Appaloosa Journal, contributing to subscriber growth and online presence. Karen holds a degree in Business with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Idaho.
