Zhiqun Deng

Zhiqun (Daniel) Deng currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan since January 2023. Deng has held various positions at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) since May 2003, including Laboratory Fellow, Interim Group Leader for Earth System Predictability & Resiliency, Chief Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, and Research Scientist, as well as Postdoctoral Research Associate. In addition, Deng has been an Adjunct Professor at Virginia Tech in Mechanical Engineering since October 2017 and worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from January 1999 to April 2003. Education includes a PhD in Theoretical & Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1998-2003), an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tianjin University (1995-1998), and a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Tianjin University (1991-1995).
