Michele Mehaffey

Michele Mehaffey is a seasoned bioinformatics professional with extensive experience in various roles within the field. Currently serving as a Bioinformatics Specialist at Pacific Northwest Research Institute since October 2020, Michele previously held the position of Research Scientist III - Bioinformatics at the University of Washington, specializing in Pediatric Genetics and the identification of causative mutations in brain disorders. Prior experience includes positions as a Bioinformatics Analyst at SIAC-Frederick, where work focused on molecular characterization and clinical assay development, and as a Bioinformatics Analyst III at SAIC-Frederick, where Michele established a next-generation sequencing facility. Michele's background also encompasses roles as a Research Biologist at Rosetta Inpharmatics and Bioinformaticist at Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, along with early work as a Research Technician III at Puget Sound Blood Center. Michele holds a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Carnegie Mellon University.
