Melissa Halasz Varella

Melissa Halasz Varella is the current Chief Compliance Officer at Pagsmile. Prior to this, they worked as Regulatory and Compliance Manager at Bexs Banco from November 2018 to April 2020. In this role, they were responsible for compliance with Bacen regulations, KYC registration, and the preparation of compliance reports. Melissa also assisted in the structuring of new products and the development of applied solutions, from the creation of MVPs to the implementation of new products. Additionally, they were responsible for data protection and compliance with LGPD and GDPR for all companies in the group.

Before their work at Bexs Banco, Melissa Halasz Varella worked as a Senior Attorney at Tanaka, Izá e Xavier Sociedade de Advogados from July 2010 to September 2018. In this role, they provided legal advice to Japanese businesses established in Brazil, with a focus on the automotive industry. Melissa was responsible for the preparation, analysis, and negotiation of contracts; provided business and corporate advice for the incorporation of new companies and investments in Brazil; and consulted with businesses to provide them with legal support in the areas of administration, law, commerce, and finance.

Melissa Halasz Varella has a degree in Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and a specialization in Business Law from FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas. Melissa also has a high school diploma from Colégio Bandeirantes.
