Syed Zomma Mohiuddin

Syed Zomma Mohiuddin is the President & CEO of Telecom Foundation, where is currently leading a complete transformation of the organization and its subsidiaries. With an MBA from Oxford University and a Masters in Radio & Communications engineering from Kings College London, Mr Mohiuddin brings over 25 years of global technology, ICT and strategic management experience, including engineering the world’s first GSM 1800 cellular network (Cable & Wireless UK), the world’s 2nd GSM dual band cellular network (Nokia Networks AG, Switzerland) and Pakistan’s first 4G wireless digital multi-channel TV network (DWN). He was the founding head of the Corporate Strategy as well as the Multimedia & Broadband departments in PTCL that conceived, planned, deployed and marketed the broadband and IPTV business in PTCL, thereby leading the transformation of PTCL from a phone company to a multimedia company. PTCL under his leadership of the Multimedia and Broadband department, captured over 90% of the country's market share for internet broadband, thereby making it the largest broadband service provider in the country and turning the company around in the process. Mr Mohiuddin was awarded the PTCL ‘presidential performance’ award in 2010 as head of the company’s broadband business group, one of the top Business Development ‘Honorarium’ awards in 2003-04 and ‘employee of the year’ award in 2009. Mr. Mohiuddin was also a member of the PTCL Board of Directors strategic planning committee as well as being the lead author of the official first broadband policy of Pakistan (Ministry of IT & Telecom, Govt of Pakistan), within 5 years of which, the broadband subscribers went from 50k (built up in 5 years preceding the policy) to over 1 m. Mr Mohiuddin was also a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council’s steering committee created to support the Prime Minister’s task force on IT & Telecom to bring about reforms for country’s digital transformation, 2018-19.
