Fred Fortier is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in the nuclear engineering sector. Currently serving as the Design Control Manager for the PALLAS Research Reactor since July 2021, Fred previously held the role of Plant Systems Engineer at PALLAS Reactor from May 2016 to July 2023. Prior to this, Fred worked at NECSA as a Mechanical Engineer from July 2010 to March 2016, and from January 2002 to June 2010, Fred was the Chief Design Engineer at PBMR (Pty) Ltd. Fred Fortier earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria between 1978 and 1982.

These are the radioactive particles in nuclear medicine that are crucial elements in order to diagnose or treat illnesses such as heart and vascular disease and cancer. PALLAS will also be an important player in (medical) nuclear technological research.
