Yanelis Abreu is a Spanish Teacher at Palmer Trinity School since August 2022 and has been working as a Contemporary Cinema Researcher since January 2017. Abreu holds a PhD from Universidad de Zaragoza, where research focuses on Caribbean Contemporary Cinema and Postcolonial Studies, emphasizing works from the year 2000 onwards. Previous experience includes serving as an Art & Cultural Journalist for Cubanow magazine from September 2006 to January 2013, covering film criticism, visual art, cultural events, and literature, as well as being a Publisher of Catalogs and Cinematographic Manuals at Cinemateca de Cuba. Additionally, Abreu has academic experience as an Assistant Professor at Universidad de La Habana, teaching various literature and culture courses. Abreu's academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Art & Cinema History from Universidad de Zaragoza, a short research degree from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Universidad de La Habana.
