Sophia Yen, MD, MPH has a long and varied career in medicine and public health. Sophia began their career in 2004 as an Advisory Board Member for Emerge California. In 2005, they became a Faculty Member of the Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Project for Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health. In 2008, they co-founded SheHeroes.org with two MIT alumnae to show that women can excel in any field they work hard towards. In 2009, they co-founded NotUnderTheBus and the Silver Ribbon Campaign to Trust Women with reproductive health decisions. In 2010, they became an Adolescent Medicine Specialist and Pediatric Obesity specialist at LPCH/Stanford Pediatric Weight Clinic. In 2015, they joined the American Academy of Pediatrics as an Executive Committee Member of the Section On Adolescent Health and became a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. In 2016, they became CEO and Co-Founder of Pandia Health, providing birth control delivered to customers' mailboxes. In 2014, they co-founded OurBodiesRx, bringing their expertise in birth control and marketing connections with non-profits and physicians.
Sophia Yen, MD, MPH began their education journey in 1989 when they earned their BS in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sophia then went on to earn their MD from the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine in 1997. After that, they completed a Peds residency at Children's Hospital Oakland from 1997 to 2000. Following that, they completed an Adolescent Medicine fellowship at UCSF Medical School from 2000 to 2003. Finally, they earned their MPH in Maternal and Child Health from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004.
