Doreen S. Ben-Zvi, Ph.D

Doreen S. Ben-Zvi, Ph.D has held a variety of roles in the scientific field. In 2020, they began working as a Data Scientist at Pangea Biomed, where they developed unsupervised algorithms and predictive models for precision oncology, as well as performing data mining, advanced analytics and statistical analysis, and data wrangling and scraping. Doreen S. also began working as a self-employed developer in 2020, providing computational and scientific consulting to startups, solving image analysis problems, defining needs in technological terms to advance the business and scientific aspects, and creating technological solutions through programming algorithms and tools in Python.

From 2013 to 2020, they worked at the Weizmann Institute of Science, first as a Postdoctoral Researcher, formulating and programming image analysis algorithms in MATLAB and Python and working in an interdisciplinary team. Doreen S. also served as a Teaching Assistant, a PhD student, where their research subject was “Germline-Soma Interactions at the Differentiation Niche” and they published a paper, and an instructor in Amos de-Shalit Science Youth Camp, where they created content for the lab course and instructed the pupils in bench-work. Additionally, they instructed first year M.Sc. students in lab rotations, teaching lab work practices, scientific thinking and soft skills.

From 2010 to 2013, they were a MSc student at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where their thesis subject was “The developmental role of cg8965 in Drosophila melanogaster” and they published a paper.

Doreen S. Ben-Zvi, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Molecular Biochemistry from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between 2007 and 2010. Doreen S. then went on to obtain their Master of Science (MSc) in Developmental Biology from the same institution from 2010 to 2013. Doreen S. then completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science between 2013 and 2018. In 2020, they attended the School of Data Science YDATA. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications from institutions such as Coursera and Microsoft, including Machine Learning, Network Analysis in Systems Biology, and Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization.
