Allen D. Malony began their career in 1982 as a Member of the Technical Staff at Hewlett-Packard (HP). At HP, they worked on a networking project that implemented virtual circuit communication at the link level and designed node switching digital logic. In 1987, Malony moved to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at the Center for Supercomputing Research and Development (CSRD). At CSRD, they were responsible for the parallel performance tools on the Cedar project. In 1991, Malony joined the University of Oregon's Department of Computer and Information Science as an Assistant Professor. Allen D. is now a Full Professor in the department, and their interests are in parallel processing, high-performance computing, parallel performance analysis, and computation/data science. In 2004, Malony became the CEO and Director of ParaTools, Inc., which provides consulting expertise in the area of parallel and distributed computing, and performance evaluation tools. In 2014, they became the CEO of ParaTools, SAS, and in 2016, they became the CEO of ParaTools, Ltd.
Allen D. Malony obtained their B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980. Allen D. then went on to pursue a M.S. in Computer Science from the same university, which they completed in 1982. Finally, they received their Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1990.
