Ian Zapfesmith

Ian Zapfesmith has extensive work experience in the oil and gas industry. Ian started their career at Husky Energy in 2003, where they worked as a Senior Geophysicist. Ian played a significant role in various interdisciplinary teams, focusing on the Ansell Galloway asset area and later expanding into the greater deep basin. Ian'swork involved evaluating plays from the Swan Hills, Leduc and Nisku reefs to the Mississippian Triassic and Jurassic subcrop plays, as well as the tight Cretaceous Gas sands.

In 2008, Ian joined Petro Andina Resources as a Senior Geophysicist. There, they worked with the Exploration Manager/Geologist to evaluate bid rounds in Colombia, particularly in the Llanos basin. Ian'stasks included mapping structural and stratigraphic traps in the Cretaceous, Mirador, and Carbonera formations.

Ian's most recent work experience is with Parex Resources, where they have held multiple roles since 2009. Ian initially joined as a Senior Geophysicist and contributed to the planning and acquisition of 3D seismic programs on the Colombia blocks. Later, they took on positions as G&G Manager, Exploration Manager, and Senior Exploration Manager. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Exploration.

Overall, Ian Zapfesmith has demonstrated expertise in seismic programs, structural and stratigraphic mapping, and evaluating exploration opportunities in various oil and gas basins.

Ian Zapfesmith has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of Calgary, which they obtained from 1993 to 1998. During the same period, they also earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Military History from the same university. Currently, they are pursuing an Americas EMBA degree in Business Administration, Management, and Operations from the Cornell Johnson School of Management and Queens Smith School of Business, expected to be completed between 2021 and 2023. Ian also holds the certification of P Geoph from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
