Ajay Sapre

Ajay Sapre has over 10 years of work experience in the field of biosciences. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Scientist at Parse Biosciences. In 2021, they were a Silica Consultant at StoneStable, Inc. and a Technology Transfer Intern at Oregon Health & Science University. From 2018 to 2021, they were an Associate Scientist and Sr. Research Associate at OHSU Knight Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center, where they were the team lead adapting single-cell NGS (MissionBio) workflow to validate novel rare circulating cancer cells as clinically relevant and co-lead of a multidisciplinary team developing a dielectrophoretic microfluidic chip to enrich for rare circulating cancer cells from blood with downstream biological readouts. From 2013 to 2021, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at UC San Diego, where they developed and optimized a novel nanoparticle cloaking technology to improve viral vector (Ad, AAV) delivery with reduced immunogenicity for gene therapy and oncolytic viral therapy. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Chemist II and Chemist at Akzo Nobel Coatings, where they acquired data to determine feasibility of lamination of polymers direct to metal as an innovative replacement for liquid coatings and executed lab, pilot, and commercial-scale synthesis of repulpable paperboard coatings derived from recycled PET. In 2011, they were a Research Associate at Case Western Reserve University. In 2010, they were a Semester in Patagonia, Chile at the National Outdoor Leadership School, where they learned leadership, risk management, and decision making skills through sea kayaking and mountain travel in the Patagonian wilderness. In 2007, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at LaShanda Korley, Ph.D. Laboratory, where they worked on a novel drug delivery platform for Pc4, a photodynamic drug used to treat skin cancer. In 2009, they were an Intern at the Arizona Heart Institute, where they participated in cardiovascular clinical rotations and gathered insight into medical devices and their implementation in a clinical setting.

Ajay Sapre earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and Tissue Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2010. Ajay then went on to receive a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego in 2018.
