Don LaBonte has a diverse work experience in various educational settings. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as a Teacher at the University of Chicago Charter School, where they focused on integrating technology into the curriculum and implementing differentiated instruction. From 2011 to 2014, they served as a Curriculum Designer at ChicagoQuest Schools, where they supported collaborative curriculum design and provided professional development for teachers.
In 2014, Don became the Co-Director of Convergence Academies at Chicago Public Schools, where they facilitated technological innovation and cooperation between schools. From 2016 to 2020, they worked as a Research Associate at the University of Washington, conducting research on family learning environments.
Most recently, Don joined Participate in 2019 as a Senior CS Strategist and later became the Director of Customer Success in August 2021. In this role, they design learning experiences, evaluates communication infrastructure, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to improve the customer journey.
Don LaBonte's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Iowa, which was obtained from 1995 to 1999. Following that, from 2005 to 2007, they pursued and completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at National Louis University. Currently, Don is enrolled in the University of Washington to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Learning Sciences, which they started in 2016.
