Iván Darío Agudelo Zapata is a distinguished Colombian politician and lawyer with extensive experience in legislative roles. Currently serving as a Senator of the Republic of Colombia since August 2010, Agudelo Zapata has also held the position of Representative for Antioquia and served as President of the Human Rights Commission for a brief period in July 2021. Previously, Agudelo Zapata was a Deputy in the Assembly of Antioquia from January 2008 to December 2009 and engaged in various academic roles, including a university professor at the Universidad de Medellín from 1998 to 2007 and as a counselor from 2003 to 2009. Additional leadership roles include Vice President of the National Federation of Deputies in 2008 and a legal advisor in international humanitarian law for the Government Secretariat of Antioquia in 1998. Agudelo Zapata holds a degree in Law and a specialization in Business Law from the Universidad de Medellín.
