Dr. James Kelly

Vice President of Research, AI and Computer Vision at Passio

Dr. James Kelly has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and responsibilities. James began their career as a Mathematical Consultant at Cable-Sense in 2012. James then worked as a Software Engineer at Icomera AB, where they developed firmware for wireless routers using C and Bash.

In 2014, James became a Lead Software Engineer at Forsberg Services Ltd., where they led a team of engineers and worked on a government-funded project to develop a Computer Vision navigation system. James was later promoted to Managing Director at IJK Technology Ltd, where they oversaw the company's operations.

James also worked as a Web Developer at Wolfram in 2017, before joining Passio Inc. as the Vice President of Research, AI, and Computer Vision. At Passio, they architected, implemented, and trained neural networks and machine learning products. James led projects such as the Nutrition AI, which allows real-time recognition of over 4000 foods.

Throughout their career, James has gained experience in various programming languages, including C, C#, and Python, and has worked on a range of software applications, from embedded Linux systems to web applications.

James Kelly completed their education in a sequential order. James attended Morecambe High School from 2003 to 2005 and completed their A Levels in Mathematics, Electronics, and Physics. Subsequently, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics at the University of Central Lancashire from 2005 to 2009. After their undergraduate studies, they continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Astrophysics from 2009 to 2012.
