Viran Fernando

Viran Fernando has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and team leadership. Viran currently works as a Team Lead and Senior Software Engineer at PastBook and Gapstars. Previously, they worked at zMessenger (Pvt) Ltd as a Tech Lead and Senior Engineer, managing the development of the platform and implementing deployment cycles. Viran also co-founded Bewillion Group and worked as a Co-Founder and Senior Systems Architect. Additionally, they have worked as a Software Development Consultant at I Go To Sri Lanka, overseeing the development of software projects. Earlier in their career, they held roles at Riverview Mobility Solutions as an Associate Tech Lead and Senior Software Engineer, where they led the platform team and developed modules for email campaigns and loyalty programs. Viran also served as a Senior Software Engineer at My Flight Zone, where they managed the IT infrastructure and developed a CRM system. Furthermore, Viran has worked as the Director of Software Development at Vertec IT Solutions, managing the software development team and handling customers from pre-sales to post-sales. Lastly, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer at Lanka Communications, leading software development teams and working with various clients in both the government and private sectors.

Viran Fernando completed their education with a focus on computer science and mathematics. From 2009 to 2012, they studied at the University of Colombo, where they pursued a BIT (external) degree in Software Engineering. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2009, they attended the Open International University, where they earned a Bsc (SE) in Java Technologies, with a specialization in J2EE.
