Local History Liaison, Celia M. Hastings Local History Room at Patchogue-Medford Library

Mark Rothenberg has extensive experience in library services and local history, currently serving as the Local History Liaison for Patchogue-Medford Library since November 1996, where responsibilities include developing local history web pages and managing online history resources. Concurrently, Rothenberg has been a Senior Reference Specialist with the Suffolk Cooperative Library System since January 1982, focusing on local history collections and providing assistance to county libraries. Previously, Rothenberg worked as a Developer in the Strategic Studies Department at Simulations Publications, Inc., and as a Reference Librarian at Brentwood Public Library. Early career experience includes serving as an Assistant Auditor at Island State Bank. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Library & Information Science from LIU Post, certifications from the American Banking Association, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from Ithaca College.

Patchogue-Medford Library

The mission of the Patchogue-Medford Library is to provide resources and opportunities to empower, educate and entertain the community. The Library is a School District Public Library serving the residents of the Patchogue-Medford School District. The District encompasses the Incorporated Village of Patchogue and the hamlets of North Patchogue, Medford and a portion of East Patchogue. The area is 15.5 square miles extending from the Great South Bay in Patchogue to Granny Road in Medford. Waverly Avenue and North Ocean Avenue form the western border of the district. The eastern border of the district extends from Roe Avenue and South Country Road in Patchogue to just east of White Pine Way in Medford.
