Erin Holve

Erin Holve, PhD, has a diverse work experience in various healthcare organizations. Currently, they serve as the Chief Research Infrastructure Officer at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), where they are responsible for developing strategies to advance patient-centered outcomes research methods and study design. Additionally, they lead a team in delivering PCORI's vision of a large, efficient, and patient-centered clinical data research infrastructure. Erin also oversees strategies to advance training and knowledge for patient-centered outcomes research, while promoting continuity and coordination within the PCORnet® landscape and ongoing comparative effectiveness and infrastructure development projects.

Prior to their role at PCORI, Dr. Holve served as the Director of Health Care Reform and Innovation Administration at the Department of Health Care Finance, the Government of the District of Columbia. In this role, they directed and managed initiatives related to health care reform and innovation from September 2016 to February 2022.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Holve held positions at AcademyHealth, where they served as a Senior Director and demonstrated expertise in managing innovative programs in health IT, population health, and data policy. Erin secured major federal and non-profit grants, developed sustainability strategies, and had a strong publication record. Erin also held the role of Director of Research and Education in Health Services Research (HSR) at AcademyHealth, overseeing research portfolio analysis and managing online learning activities. Prior to that, they were a Senior Manager responsible for developing the HSR Methods website.

Dr. Holve's experience also includes working as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Kaiser Family Foundation, where they focused on coverage and access issues and analyzed employer-sponsored health benefits. Erin was involved in the development of the State Health Facts Online website. Erin started their career as a Health Policy Analyst/Intern at the US Department of Health and Human Services, Assistant Secretary's Office of Planning and Evaluation, where they developed policies and conducted economic analysis on health information privacy regulations.

Furthermore, Dr. Holve has worked as a Smoking Cessation Coverage Decision-Making Project Consultant at the UCSF Stanford Health Care Office of the Vice President for Quality Improvement, and as a Health Policy Consultant at the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Erin Holve, PhD, completed their education in a chronological manner. Erin started their educational journey at UC San Diego, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Third World Studies and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, with a focus on Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution. This period of study took place from 1992 to 1997. Following this, they attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 1997 to 2000, where they obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Public Health and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree in Public Policy. Lastly, they attended The Johns Hopkins University from 2004 to 2007, where they completed their studies with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Public Health.
