Edgar Ramos Muñoz

Edgar Ramos Muñoz has a long history of work experience, beginning in 2014 at UC Irvine. In this role, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher, Lecturer, Graduate Student Researcher, and Teaching Assistant. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, they analyzed anonymous user data from FitMi home rehabilitation system to identify factors related to perseverance, audited, cleaned, merged, and repaired large data sets from multiple sources, and transformed data sets into easy-to-use data structures and developed detailed data dictionaries for colleagues from external partnerships. As a Lecturer, they lectured dynamics courses and improved course materials, implemented in-class group quizzes to encourage participation in active learning, and supervised and trained teaching assistants. As a Graduate Student Researcher, they developed smart-charging algorithms to improve electric vehicle charging infrastructure while reducing costs, used optimization theory to formulate tractable problem formulations that met core application requirements, and processed data from the 2017 National Household Travel Survey to generate simulated driving patterns. In 2022, Edgar Ramos Muñoz began working as a Data Scientist for PatientFi.

Edgar Ramos Muñoz began their educational journey at Los Medanos College from 2008 to 2011, where they completed their transfer coursework. Edgar then attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Afterwards, they attended UC Irvine from 2014 to 2016, where they received a Master of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Lastly, they returned to UC Irvine from 2014 to 2019 to complete their Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Additionally, Edgar has obtained a Machine Learning certification from Coursera in October 2021 and a Mentoring Excellence Program certification from UC Irvine in 2017.
