Matthew Blackburn

Matthew Blackburn is a senior biotech R&D leader with over a decade of experience in protein engineering and synthetic biology. They served as a research scientist and teaching assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2010, focusing on metagenomics and high-throughput DNA sequencing. Following their time at MIT, they worked extensively at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in biotechnology and bioengineering from 2010 to 2016. More recently, they held positions as a Senior Investigator at Ichnos Sciences and are currently the Scientific Director at Pattern Biosciences, where they lead AAV production and characterization efforts. Blackburn holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Biotechnology from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and multiple advanced degrees and certifications in the field.
