Brooks Tueting

Since Brooks Tueting joined Patterson + Sheridan, his clients have come to enjoy working with him not only for his results, but his commitment to excellence. In addition to measuring success by cases won or patents approved, he holds another metric in high regard: client satisfaction. Brooks’ commitment to ensuring the success of his clients is derived from his passion for working with innovative companies and institutions across a wide range of technologies. He isn’t satisfied with the status quo, and aims to exceed client expectations in all he does.

With a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry, Brooks has a well-rounded view of many technical and complex specialties in IP law. Various business and personal pursuits have allowed Brooks to gain extensive knowledge in mechanical engineering and business operations—experience he draws upon regularly when providing patent prep and prosecution services, litigation support, and portfolio analysis for clients in industries ranging from semiconductors to software.

When it comes to IP attorneys, Brooks is a triple threat: an excellent listener, writer and quick study when it comes to understanding complex technical issues. He takes pride in listening to clients’ needs and efficiently developing strategies that contemplate all potential outcomes so they can make the best decisions.

Acting as in-house counsel for several clients, Brooks ensures their IP efforts align with their business goals. He has proven himself a true asset by recognizing the potential value of product enhancements and features while identifying strategies that provide significant value to his clients. In one instance, a new product was only two weeks away from release with no patent protection in place. He brought the issue to the client’s attention, then drafted, filed and ensured protection for his client in that two-week period.

Brooks knows how to efficiently identify and apply the best use of his clients’ resources. He accomplishes this by gaining an in-depth understanding of their business objectives and staying current with the ever-changing legal landscape in order to effectively counsel his clients.

In his second year of law school, Brooks was making recommendations to a panel of government representatives. He was invited to testify before a subcommittee of the U.S. Trade Representative in reference to a complex pharmaceutical patent case involving the Thai government and a large manufacturer of heart disease medication.

When he isn’t giving his all for clients, Brooks enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He’s passionate about Baylor University sports, hunting, biking, sampling new microbrews and various culinary endeavors. In addition to being an active member of his church, Brooks serves his local community as vice president of his municipal utility district’s board of directors.
