J. Mitchell Lowe

As a technical Associate, Mitchell applies his engineering background to assist the firm’s attorneys in protecting clients’ intellectual property. He works closely with technologies in the areas of communications, complex software, IT, internet, electronics and semiconductors. Mitchell has a deep appreciation for technology and is proud to follow in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in IP law.

Mitchell will receive his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in 2022. During his tenure, he was an associate editor for IDEA: The Law Review of the Franklin Pierce Center for IP, a two-time CALI Excellence Award winner, a Rudman Summer Fellow, and a teaching assistant for a patent-focused legal research course. Mitchell earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. While there, he completed a capstone project for Idaho National Laboratory, which involved working with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to design an interface for a soft robot arm capable of handling radioactive materials.

Fueled by a love of learning and a desire to understand a wide range of technologies and the various facets of IP law, Mitchell completed internships at both Patterson + Sheridan and at an international arms, security, and aerospace company, gaining experience in licensing, litigation support, trademarks and patent preparation and prosecution.

Mitchell prides himself on being an effective and intentional communicator. He sharpened his skills during an internship at the New Hampshire Circuit Court, where he clerked for Judge Edward B. Tenney, conducted legal research, participated in judicial decision-making and drafted court orders.

Mitchell knows complete preparation is what ultimately separates an excellent technical advisor from a good one. Whether he’s getting ready to meet a client for the first time or to work with the USPTO to get a patent approved, he is diligent and thorough in his work and research every step of the way.

Outside of work, Mitchell is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a transplant from the Pacific Northwest, Mitchell is excited to explore all that Texas has to offer. He can often be found with his wife and two young daughters enjoying parks and other outdoor activities. Mitchell is an Eagle Scout, and likes playing basketball, watching sports and traveling.
