Jordyn Dougherty joined Patterson + Sheridan in 2013 after graduating from Penn State University. She began her tenure with the firm as a technical advisor and focuses her practice on electronic and semiconductor technologies. While at Penn State, Jordyn majored in analytical chemistry, exposing her to a broad range of technical areas such as optics, molecular spectroscopy and electronics. Her degree, which placed a high emphasis on discovering the how and why behind technology, continues to assist Jordyn in helping clients define and differentiate their inventions.
Jordyn’s experience as a technical advisor, in combination with her undergraduate education, motivated her to pursue a legal career. While completing her law degree at South Texas College of Law Houston, Jordyn received CALI awards in several courses, including Patent Prosecution & Claim Drafting, Professional Responsibility and Legal Research & Writing. She also passed the USPTO bar exam during law school and began working as a patent agent with the firm. Since then, Jordyn has continued to expand her areas of practice and legal skills and is now a practicing attorney.
As an associate, Jordyn assists in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications for clients, including one of the world’s largest providers of storage solutions. Her primary objective is to create an application that facilitates the solid protection of patent rights. To achieve this, Jordyn relies on both research and relationships – working closely with inventors to understand their ideas and products from all angles. Additionally, Jordyn’s up-to-date knowledge of USPTO procedures, rules and regulations ensures that clients can enter the market securely and confidently.
Outside of work, Jordyn is committed to attending a daily spin class and spending her free time with her dog, family and friends.
