Patrick Garrett has more than two decades of experience counseling a diverse clientele in intellectual property matters, including startups and Fortune 50 companies. His core practice focuses on assisting the firm’s clients with patent preparation and prosecution; technology licensing and IP transactions in the technical areas of AI, machine learning, complex software, communications, electronics, semiconductor and optics technologies.

Prior to joining Patterson + Sheridan, Patrick managed his own law firm in New Jersey and also served as a partner and counsel attorney at IP firms in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. His legal portfolio includes work for manifold technologies, including radio frequency, microwave and extraterrestrial communications, digital and analog signal processing, operating systems, virtual machines, artificial intelligence, and computer-based drug design and molecular modeling.

In addition to his broad IP knowledge, Patrick leverages a decade of experience working as an electrical engineer for a world-renowned defense contractor. He earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland and holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Widener University.
